The major awards of the jubilee year of GRAND PRIX VINEX were presented in the Mendel Greenhouse in Brno
The unique building of the Mendel Greenhouse in the Augustinian Abbey in Brno became the venue for the award ceremony and the presentation of the major awards of the 30th year of the international competition GRAND PRIX VINEX. The Champion award went to the Volařík winery and the award for the best rated wine collection went to the Pavlov winery.
Exactly 842 samples from 158 wineries from 6 countries took part in this year's 30th edition of the competition. The winners of the prestigious competition titles were chosen by 19 tasting juries from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Great Britain, Australia and South Africa on 26 and 27 April in Valtice. The major awards were presented to the winners on 25 May at a gala evening in the beautiful and unique premises of the Mendel Greenhouse. A tasting of the selected competition wines was also prepared for the participants of the ceremony, among whom were degustators, winemakers and partners of the competition as well as representatives of the South Moravian Region and the city of Brno.
The wines of this year's competition once again proved their high quality - a large number of wines were awarded, 51 of them even received a large gold medal (at least 90 points). The title Champion of the competition award and the winner in the category of semi-dry white wines was won by the Volařík winery from Mikulov for the Riesling 2021 selection of grapes from the Purmice vineyard in Perná.
